Therapy Process

The therapy process can help find words for experiences, feelings, or thoughts that are hard to describe or talk about. Sometimes what we think we need help with may turn out to be something completely different.

The more honest we are with ourselves, the better our chances for living a satisfying, useful, and pleasurable life.

How to make an appointment & what to expect in the first session.

Book an appointment online, send an email, send a text message, or make a phone call. If I am unavailable, please leave a message and I will get back to you within one working day with a possible time and date to meet or to answer any questions you may have.

The first session is for us to meet. This allows you to get a sense of who I am and whether you feel comfortable with me and whether you believe we can work together. It also allows me to get a sense of who you are and what brought you to therapy. I will ask various questions in this session to guide the process. Sessions are 50 minutes. I often suggest that we meet for a few sessions so that the you can get a sense of the way that I work and see if it suits you before deciding whether or not to go on.

Online Therapy

These are very worrisome times in the world at large and it will be important, as far as possible, to continue treatment and ensure we remain in contact and have supportive spaces. I offer online therapy for times for when in-person meetings are not possible.

Price & Payment

Sessions cost R1,050.00 per 50 minute session for 2024, in accordance with current medical aid rates. The initial session is paid in cash or EFT before the session. Thereafter, I will invoice you at the end of every month. You can use this invoice to claim back from your medical aid, if this option is available to you.

Number of Sessions/ Frequency

The number of sessions depends on your needs. The initial phase of therapy lasts between one and three sessions. Here I hope to understand what has brought you to therapy and what your needs may be. Once you and I have a clearer picture of what has brought you to therapy, we decide together the best way forward including when and how often to meet.

This may mean brief therapy (2-8 sessions), short-term psychotherapy (16-20 sessions), or long-term psychotherapy (+6months). Frequency again on what is best for you. I like working with my clients on a weekly basis to stay connected to the therapy process. However, this may be increased or decreased as you prefer.
